Sean Baker was born and raised in Adams, a picturesque town nestled in a rural valley surrounded by miles of lush, rolling hills in the Berkshires. His appreciation for living in a scenic, small town with a rich, cultural history continues to grow the older he gets.

“History—especially local history--is very close to my heart. What I value most from my formative years in the 413 are the local people and places that had a profound influence on me, whether I knew it or not, at the time. My family, my friends, my friends’ families, coaches, teachers, local business people and iconic locations in town are all woven into the tapestry of my very colorful life.”

Sean now lives on the rocky coast of Maine with his wife, Ali, and their two sons, Matthew and William but returns to Adams often to visit family and friends. Driving through his hometown, Sean’s senses pick up the smell of freshly mowed grass and the roar of the hometown crowd as he drives past the fields where he once played baseball. A walk downtown conjures up memories of endless summer nights and hijinks with friends. The buildings where he attended school and church are still standing, like time capsules safeguarding many happy memories. Much has changed through the years, but his mind’s eye still sees a beloved place forever frozen in time.

“I personally believe there’s at least one great story behind every place you visit and within each person you meet, and I look forward to sharing those unheard tales from the 413.”

In recent years, his desire to get better photos of his boys playing sports led him down the path that paved the way for a burgeoning photography business. The photos from the 413 published here with his story were all taken by Sean.
